Trying to use my stencils, I have a few, never used, maybe once or twice, but put away for a while.
A lovely lady, Virginia from Virginia's View Challenge blog, has recently started hosting challenges and April is her second one, with challenge #2 underway and the theme is Stencil. She says its all the rage now. Her creations are so cool and I am being inspired. I have another card in mind with stenciling....gotta serf the net and see if there are other challenges requiring stenciling...fingers crossed.
Thus got me thinking of using my stencils and create something simple.
Here is my small cas card. Click on the pictures for detail and better looking shot at one photo at a time.
I used the stencil all the way through, front and back
Trying to get the angle of the butterfly, I applied a couple of layers of Mod Podge gloss, to give it a shine (I do not posses glossy accents like the rest of you to give it a 3D look :(
I get great inspiration from Rachel (rachO113 YouTube channel). I notice she uses individual letter stamps for writing sentiments on her artwork. I have a couple different styles and I thought this one is very cool and whimsical.
I bought it in spotlight but cannot remember the name, i have misplaced the cover.
I took green textured paper and stamped with versamark (watermark ink) and heat embossed with my new white (opaque finish by zing) embossing powder and then cut it out and stuck on pop dots on each letter to create a dimensional look to the sentiment.
I used the same green paper for background frame and cream textured paper for the stamping of the butterfly (KaiserCraft - bonjour). I stamped another butterfly and water colored it with distress inks (dusty concord, broken china, crushed olive and walnut stain.
Gosh, i just love water coloring, so cool, the soft and sometimes vibrant colors you get from distress inks and paints and water color pencils.
Hope you liked my card, is only small (12x9.5cm) but I love it, so simple and fun.
I would like to enter my card into the following challenges :-
Virginia's View Challenge blog - challenge #2 Stencil
CAS on Sunday - challenge #30 - Stitched faux or real
CAS(e) this Sketch - #70
That is all for now....cheers MOnika
